AFRICANA – Super Eagles

To this day – believe it or not –  there has not been any Nigerian squad up to par as the Nigeria 1994 World Cup squad.

Managed by Dutch coach Clemens Westerhof, the Super Eagles 1994 squad after winning the AFCON title in Tunisia were the first Nigerian National team to make it to the FIFA World Cup competition, which was held in the US.

Alloy Agu described the tournament as one of the best moments in the history of Nigerian Soccer. He cited, “that team spirit and hard work were key to Nigeria’s success in Tunisia.”

“We were one happy family, it was a time when Nigerian players were at their peak. It gave us the confidence to embrace our career with much optimism, and that was exactly what happened at the World Cup,”.
